Welcome to the Cambridge Society of Luxembourg
The Society aims to further the interests of the University of Cambridge in Luxembourg, and to encourage and promote social and cultural activities among the alumni of the University living Luxembourg and its environs. Membership of the Society is open to anyone who has studied in or taught at the University, or who has participated in another way in the life of the Colleges or the University.
The Society participates in the annual Student Fair (Foire de l’Étudiant) organised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. We have a Digital Platform and a stand at the Fair in Belval where we meet students and parents and provide information and advice to students interested in studying at the University at either undergraduate or graduate level. Together with the Oxford Society we arrange practice interviews for students who have applied to either Oxford or Cambridge, and provide advice and assistance with the preparation of applications to Cambridge.
On the social side the Society organises a formal Michaelmas Dinner. In recent years the alumni societies of Cambridge, Oxford and LSE have come together once a year for a Gala dinner. We also organise informal social dinners in local restaurants on a fairly regular basis throughout the year, and casual social “mixer” drinks together with members of the Oxford. Society. We also have a programme of social activities including skittles evenings, croquet in the Parc, and a highlight of the year is the Cricket/BBQ/Picnic Family Day with the Oxford Society at the Schuman Farm and Evrange Oval at the end of June or early July.
The Society is increasingly organising , often together with other alumni societies, talks and conferences with distinguished speakers on a wide range of topics,
