Tapas, drinks and “Kéil Spillen” at La Taperia, 15 January, 2026

For our first social gathering of 2026 for the combined members (and friends) of the Cambridge and Oxford Societies, something like 20 of us came together at La Taperia, a Spanish tapas restaurant at the top of Limpertsberg (previously known as “Le Café des Bons Amis“).

The restaurant also has an excellent skittles (Kéillen) alley which we used some years ago before the restaurant took on its current Spanish nature. It was very nice to return, the whole place has been well renovated and redecorated.

We enjoyed some excellent tapas, some people ordering more substantial dishes, and the usual variety of beers, wines and cocktails.

In between eating and drinking some of us enjoyed casual Kéil Spillen, we didn’t have any competitive matches, we just practised bowling. For many it was the first occasion to try this very enjoyable game. Next time we will get ourselves more organised to play a few matches.

Because I am sure there will be a next time, La Taparia is an excellent venue with good food at reasonable prices, and first class service.

A great, well-attended start to the year!
