On Sunday 13 April the Cambridge University Light Blues won all four races along the 4 mile course on the Thames in London, maintaining their dominance of the event in recent years.
Cambridge Women secured their eighth consecutive win in the 79th Women’s Boat Race, extending their overall record to 49 victories to Oxford’s 30. The Men’s crew, too, were victorious in defending their title in the 170th edition of the event, notching up their 88th win, with Oxford sitting on 81.
Goldie, the Cambridge Men’s Reserve Crew, won the Men’s Reserve Race, while Blondie, the Cambridge Women’s Reserve Crew, won the Women’s Reserve Race. And the day before, the 2025 Lightweight Boat Race also saw two wins for Cambridge.
As in previous years, members and their families from the Alumni Societies of the two Universities living in Luxembourg watched the races together at the house of one of the Cambridge alumni, enjoying liquid refreshment and cakes as they cheered on their respective crews. Our friends from Oxford were somewhat downcast that their crews were once again not able to cope with the power and technical prowess of the Cambridge rowers, but they remained cheerful nonetheless!
A marvellous afternoon for everyone, but especially for the Light Blues and their supporters. The delicious cakes and other “goodies” provided by the participants were much appreciated.
